Into the ACECAU´s actions plan, the establishment of an INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAM OF INDICATORS OF QUALITY OF THE CANARIANUNIVERSITY SYSTEM is a matter of priority. For this, it is essential to agree the most relevant indicators that serve as a guide for the next years.
The objective of this program is to set up, established by consensus, with the external and internal aspects of Canarian University System (SUC) the indicators of quality into the Canarian University system , as a way to make use of quality criteria as an evaluative for next years.
The program consist of five stages: State of the systems of the indicators of quality from referential sources and examples from others sites, presentation to those involved, realization, public introduction and actualization of those indicators agreed.
Last 16th May 2008 the leadership committee, created for the fulfillment of those points above mentioned, and formed by the General Director of Universities, the Vice-rector of Teaching staff and Educational Quality from La Laguna University and Educational quality and Innovation from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the director of ACECAU.
This commission has approved the Program and agreed the creation of a technical commission responsible for the development of the program. The technical commission will be composed by two representatives belonging to the following organizations: Social councils, La Laguna University, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University, General Direction of Universities and ACECAU.
In order to carry this program out, the Technical Commission will have into account those documents related to the program “Docentia and Audit”, as soon as the Royal Decree 1393/2007(BOE 206 on 30/10/ 2007) that regulates the arrangement of official University Teaching, the indicators proposed in the program, ENQA criteria and guideline among others. This commission proposes the elaboration of a reduced system of indicators associated with national and European systems. Three provisional phases for the preparation of the program are proposed. The first one deals with the elaboration of a first draft with the methodology and the proposal of indicator, concluding in September 2008. The second phase consists of creating a definite list and selecting the experts and judges, planned for September 2008, concluding in June 2009. The last and third phase will finish with the elaboration of a final document and a proposal of continuation.
