Assessment Process of University and Research Institutes of the Canarian Government

Information about the assessment process in which the Research University Institutes (ULL) and Research institutes of the Canarian Government are to be found.

ACECAU - Updated on Wednesday, in April 07, 2010

As for the Assessment of Research University Institutes (ULL), at the moment the first two institutes to be assessed are the Antonio Gonzalez Bioorganic University Institute (IUBO) and the University Institute of Canarian Public Health and Tropical Diseases (IUETSPC). These two institutes are in a Self-assessment stage, which is an internal process carried out by the institute itself, with a participative and deep reflection on the real situation and the achieved quality status.

The Self Assessment Committee of each Institute (CAI) will write the Self-assessment Report once the previously mentioned stage has been finished, which will probably be at the end of June.

Once the self-report has been finished, the External Assessment Stage will commence, which must last a maximum of three months. This date will be established in future meetings.

Regarding the Assessment of the Canarian Government Research Institutes (ICIA), the Canarian Institute of Agricultural Research (ICIA) is now developing its self-report, which will be submitted to ACECAU for revision by the end of May. The External Assessment is planned for the beginning of July. This stage will be the needed complement to properly cover the aims of every institutional assessment, and will be carried out by the External Assessment Committee (CEE), who will develop the external stage of the assessment and will write the External Report. It will be formed by people from outside the institute and will be nominated by ACECAU’s director, following the proposal of the Plan Coordination Committee. Its composition will adjust to the features of the assessed institute.
