Quality Police: Mission, Vision and Values

 
The ACECAU declares its commitment with continuous improvement and the satisfaction of its customers regarding the services provided by the Agency. With this goal in mind, an integral quality management system has been developed that includes the establishment of strategies and objectives for the Agency.
 
Also, a Service Chart has been published, which details the specific commitments of the Agency with the University community.
 
The ACECAU also aims to guarantee ethical and responsible behaviour while conducting its activities, enforcing it beyond mere compliance with the laws, and a Code of Ethics has been created to that end.
The Code of Ethics reflects the corporative values and principles that guide the behaviour of the Agency and its personnel. It also informs the procedures and works that done regarding the relationship with customers, employees, providers and society.
Besides the principles of the Code, a set of rules is also enforced for the actions of the Ethics Committee, in order to solve doubts and those claims about any non-compliance in its behalf; and to watch over the application of said Code in any activities undertaken by the Agency.
 
Nowadays, the ACECAU has developed alliances with other Spanish Agencies for Higher Education Quality Assurance, the REACU (Spanish acronym for Network of Higher Education Quality Agencies), which counts as its goals the following:
  • Promoting and developing cooperation and exchange of experiences and information, especially good practices and methodologies.
  • Collaborating in order the promote higher education quality assurance inside the Spanish university system.Acting as a forum for the proposal and development of standards, procedures and guidelines for quality assurance.
  • Promoting the development and introduction of quality assurance systems and agency accreditation.
 
In the same way as the ACECAU, it commits itself, once incorporated into the ENQA, to comply with all directives and commitments requested.
 
Mission
 
The ACECAU is an autonomous agency of an administrative nature, attached to the Department of the Canarian Government with competencies in education, and has the following goals:
 
Contributing to the quality of the Canarian University System through independent evaluation, assessment and accreditation of the basic elements of that system: teaching staff, contents, institution and policies.
 
Analysis and examination of the Canarian University System and creation of proposals designed to quality promotion and proper planning of that system.
 
 
Retrieving information from the Canarian society regarding the perceived quality, function and results of that system.
 
Vision
 
The ACECAU aspires to be main referent for the quality of the Canarian University System, and contributing with its activities to create and stimulate suitable conditions in which the Canarian universities could develop their full potential and maximize the quality of the public service of higher education. To achieve those, the ACECAU shall establish quality standards internationally recognized in its internal organization and management systems.
 
Values
 
The activities of the ACECAU will be guided by the following principles:
 
Respect for the autonomy of the universities and encouragement of their diversity.
 
Collaboration with universities, administrations and quality and assessment agencies, both national ands foreign, through the exchange of good practices and evaluation, analysis and accreditation tools.
