Programme on Institucional Management in Higher Education (IMHE)

In a global context, the strategic management of higher education institutions and the national and regional system of higher education is more and more com complex and changing.

Nowadays, higher education, at an international extent, hasto face several challenges: a greater number of students with greater expectations, the internationalization, the technological progress, the increasing financial restrictions, the need for quality assurance, the acreditation process, the transparency and the accounts, the education throughout life, etc.

As a response to all these challenges, the Organization for the Cooperation and Economic Development (OCDE) created in 1969 the programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE) which provides its members (ACECAU among them) with a strategic analysis and with recommendations for the institutional development. IMHE also promotes the exchange of information and experiences for a better management in higher education.

The programme IMHE acts as forum for the national and regional decisions in the higher education, for the directors of higher education institutions, researchers and experts.

The programme provides its members with:

• A privileges access to a selected international net of institutions and experts that goes beyond the area of the OCDE.
• An access to the results of some research and to recent news about higher education.
• Participation in higher standard meetings about different questions of interest in higher education.
• OCDE and IMHE publications about relevant questions for higher education.
• Participation in external evaluation of institutional internalization offered by IMHE to higher education institutions.
• A full catalogue about the OCDE´s publications about education.
