Contract Programme: Funing of the special actions of Quality improvement
FUNDING OF THE SPECIAL ACTIONS OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
The Canarian Government presents to its universities the Pact for Quality in Higher Education with a Funding Plan 2009-2013, which will be carried out around the contract programme, whose eighth clause refers to the “Funding of the special actions of quality improvement”, in which ACECAU has been assigned the function of endorsing those special actions of quality improvement sent by the Canarian universities.
For this purpose, ACECAU has created a process and a model for endorsing the special actions of quality improvement, based on the international criteria and guidelines, with the aim of guaranteeing their quality.
Objectives of the Project
The general objective is to create a process and a model which will allow the endorsement, through a series of requirements, of the projects destinated to the special actions of quality improvement sent by the Canarian Universities to ACECAU.
The aim of the specific objectives is to:
- Promote quality improvement in the Canarian Universities.
- Offer the university community and society in general, trustworthy information on the quality of the universities.
- Contribute with proposals that will improve the quality of university work.
- Promote the participation of all the members of the university community in the permanent process of quality improvement.
The universities may submit to the ACECAU validation process, any special actions linked to the quality they wish to fund, and in this way, guarantee that these actions comply with the national and international quality criteria and guidelines.

General description of the process
For this purpose, once the application model (Document II: Appendix I) and the assessment model (Document II: Appendix 2) have been received by ACECAU, they will verify that they adjust to the established model.
The validation process of these special improvement actions will be carried out by a Mixed Commitee of Experts: student, teacher or a professional from the university sphere, a professional from outside the university sphere and a technician from the Agency who will act as secretary, all of whom will have been designated by ACECAU, according to the established procedures.
The special improvement actions will be preceded by a validation process of the assessment model (Document II: Appendix 2) which, together with other criteria, will guarantee the quality of the special improvement actions.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The documentation presented to ACECAU has to be provided in PRINT AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA together with the EVIDENCE put forward in the application or assessment model.
