Assessment of university servicies according to the model EFQM
The Canarian Agency for Quality Evaluation and University Accreditation (ACECAU) and the Club for the Excellence in the Management (CEG) have signed an agreement of collaboration in order to extend the excellence in the management of Canarian universities, having the model EFQM as a referent.
The CEG is in charge of the Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) in Spain and its main objetive is to acceleratet the transformation of Spanish organizations which compete and which are developed within a global economy.
Concerning ACECAU, we see among its objetives the evaluation of the university system of the Canaries, the analysis of the results and the proposal of measures for the improvement of the quality of the services offered by Canarian public universities, especially those regarding the teaching, research, management servicies and teaching staff assessment. Thoughout this agreement, we want to satisfy the request on Canarian universities to get the higher levels of recognition within the model EFQM for the excellence.
ACECAU expects to contribute a model for the assessment of university management servicies, which are based on the european model for the recognition of EFQM, as well as the outlines of recognition of excellence compatible with the European ones. this fact will allow Canarian universities to be on the same level as the more prestigious European organizations.
Besides, ACECAU expects to offer mechanisms for the external evaluation of university management systems, as well as the formation of technical activities within the field of the excellence in the management, based on the implemention of the model EFQM.
With this programme, ACECAU wants to promote a methodology for the assessment which contributes to the instroduction or the continuation of processes for the improvement of the quality of canarian university systems.
For this, ACECAU has elaborated guidelines about the procedure to follow in order to assess university services and unities of management according to the model EFQM for the excellence and through an announcement, Canarian universities could take part in this process of evaluation.
