Institutional Assessment

As a support to the universities in the process for the identification of strong and weak points and to facilitate the taking of decisions, the continous improvement of their quality, as well as the preparation for the acreditation of official university degrees and the obtaining of certifications of quality of centers and servicies, the agency will carry out diagnoses of tec¡aching and sercives.

Certification

The certification will assure the quality of a programme or service, with respect to pre-requirements defined in norms or technical specificities previously established. The seal of quality of the ACECAU will be given to those high schools (institutes), systems for managing the quality, its own degrees, doctorate programmes or university services which have the necessary requirements.

Accreditation

The acceditation by the ACECAU will guarantee an optimal level of quality in that teaching leading to the obtaining of an official university degree and of those centers which teach them.

European Convergence

This plan aims to promote and facilitate the convergence of official teaching in the universities of the Canaries within the European Higher Education Area. For this purpose, we establish actions directed to the diffusion on the contents of European Declarations, as well as the practice of experiences for the implemantion of degrees with the necessary structure and a support the coordinated projects among universities for the establishment of the european system of credits.

Innovation, Development and Improvement

This agency will promete programmes for the innovation, development and improvement of the qulity of higher education, throughout courses and training stages for the teaching and research staff and for other agents involved, as well as the implemations of experiences for the development and improvement of the quality and the excellence of universities, researches and studies in this sense.

Collaboration with other Agencies

The agency will establish and promote the development of links of collaboration with other equivalent agencies of the autonomous regions and with the ANECA as well.

As a preferential framework for this collaboration, The ACECAU takes part actively in the spanish net of agencies for the quality of university education (REACU) which includes all the agencies for the quality created so far.

The aim this institutional cooperation is to make easier the mutual recognition of accreditations and certifications through agreements and tocarry out coordinated studies and researches. The ACECAU will also establish links with Latin American networks for the accreditation of the quality of higher education and with European agencies and consortia which promote the cooperation in the field of the assessment of quality in higher education.
