ACECAU and the excellence club of management collaborate to implement the excellence in the management in Canarian universities

This agreement allows Canarian universities to reach the same level than the most prestigious European organizations.

 ACECAU and the Club of Excellence of Management have signed an agreement in order to extend the excellence in the management of Canarian universities, having the model EFQM of excellence as a referent.

 As the responsible of the European Foundation for Quality Management in Spain, the Club of Excellence of Management has as a main aim to accelerate the transformation of Spanish organizations for the competitiveness and development of a global economy.

  With respect to ACECAU ,we can see among its objectives the evaluation of the university system of the Canaries, the analyses of its results and the proposals for the improvement of the quality of services of Canarian public universities, so through this agreement we try to answer the demand of Canarian universities to reach the highest levels of recognition within the model EFQM of excellence.

 This way, ACECAU wants to provide a model for the evaluation of the university services of management, based on the European schema of recognition of the EFQM, as well as those schemas of recognition of excellence compatible with those which are current at an European level, which will allow to position the Canarian universities at the same level than the most prestigious European organizations.

 In this sense, the director of ACECAU, Urbano Medina, states that “the signing of this agreement will allow measuring the quality of all the services offered by both Canarian universities”. This process will be carried out through some punctual agreements of collaboration with every university.

 The general secretary of the Club of Excellence, Juan Liquete, considered that “this agreement offers an opportunity to create an approach between the university and the enterprise through the evaluation”. Besides he wished that the Spanish Universities in general and those in the Canaries particularly become included in the net of European organizations “which stand out thanks to their excellence at all levels”.

In addition, universities were invited to involve into the process, because “an enterprise to be excellent has to be sustainable and has to pay a dividend to society”.

AGREEMENT OBJECTIVES

For the execution of this collaboration agreement, altogether action plans will be started with the objective of evaluating the university management services and forming evaluators and license.

With regard to the service evaluation, Canarian universities could request for the units or services wishing to be indiscriminately evaluated to the ACECAU or directly to the ANECA, which utilizes the EFQM Model as a referent in its External Evaluation Program and as Recognition to Spanish Universities Units or Services Management. In first case, ACECAU will canalize these requirements to CEG, informing simultaneously to ANECA, whereas, in second case, it will be ANECA, the one that canalizes these requirements to CEG, informing, at the same time ACECAU.

Related to evaluators and licensees training, from ACECAU it is pretended to promote the development of a group of formation and self-evaluation evaluators and licensees EFQM in Canarian Universities.

The collaboration agreement has 2 years initial duration. During the six first months, both institutions will have to plan the actions that will realize for the development of itself and concretely, will agree the formation plan for evaluators, besides the evaluation costs.
